At Tala, we believe your data is strictly yours. Our app is designed from the ground up as an offline-first password manager. This Privacy Policy details our data practices and how we protect your information.

100% Local Storage

We do not have access to your data. All user data is encrypted and stored exclusively on your personal device.

Zero Telemetry

Tala does not contain trackers, telemetry, or analytics. We do not monitor how you use the app.

1. Data Storage & Encryption

All credentials, notes, and usernames you save in Tala are stored securely in a local database on your device using SQLCipher. Your data is encrypted at rest using enterprise-grade 256-bit AES encryption.

We do not transmit, collect, or store personal credentials or passwords on any external servers. Your Master Key never leaves your device, and there is no backdoor—meaning we cannot recover your data if you lose your key.

2. Android Autofill Service

Tala integrates with the native Android Autofill Framework to make logging into apps and websites seamless.

When you use Autofill, Tala temporarily reads the view structure of the app or website you are attempting to log into so it can identify username and password fields. This data processing happens entirely on-device. No information about the apps you use or the websites you visit is recorded or transmitted.

3. Data Control & Deletion

Because Tala is completely localized to your device, you retain full and total control of your data.

You can permanently delete all your data at any time by:

  • Using the in-app deletion actions for individual items or full resets.
  • Clearing the app's data through your Android system settings.
  • Uninstalling the Tala app.

Warning: Because there are no cloud backups managed by us, deleting your app data or uninstalling the app will permanently and irreversibly erase your passwords unless you have manually configured local database exports.

4. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Effective Date". Because Tala is offline, updates to this policy will only affect external publishing requirements and do not alter the fundamental localized nature of the app.
